Trust & Safety
Hire with confidence
Trettle is built on proof of work. Here is how we verify professionals, keep reviews genuine and help you hire safely — and what to do if something goes wrong.
How professionals are verified
A verified badge means a professional has completed three checks.
Identity (KYC)
Professionals submit government-issued identity proof, which is checked against the details on their profile.
Business details
Where applicable, we check business details such as GST registration, trade or professional registration and business address.
Portfolio review
We review uploaded projects for signs of copied, stock or misattributed work before a profile earns its verified badge.
What the badge does and doesn’t mean: it confirms that the checks above were completed when we reviewed the profile. It is not a guarantee of the quality of any future work, so always follow the safe hiring tips below.
How we keep reviews genuine
Reviews are only useful if you can trust them. These rules apply to everyone on Trettle.
- Reviews can only be left by customers who have interacted with the professional about a project.
- Professionals may not pay, discount or reward anyone in exchange for a review, or pressure customers to change one.
- We look for patterns that suggest fake or coordinated reviews and remove reviews that break our rules.
- We do not remove reviews just because they are negative. Professionals can reply publicly and respectfully.
- Anyone can report a review they believe is fake, abusive or unrelated to a real project.
Safe hiring tips for customers
A few simple habits protect your money, your home and your peace of mind.
Meet and verify
Look for the verified badge, read reviews and, for bigger jobs, meet in person or by video. Check registrations that apply — for example, architects should be registered with the Council of Architecture.
Get the scope and quote in writing
Agree the materials, brands, measurements, inclusions, exclusions, timeline and total price before work starts. Itemised proposals make it easier to compare.
Pay in milestones
Tie each payment to a visible stage of work, such as design sign-off, material delivery or installation. Keep receipts and invoices for every payment.
Never pay the full amount upfront
A reasonable advance for materials is normal; the full amount before work begins is not. Be wary of requests for unusual payment methods or prices that seem too good to be true.
Keep chat on Trettle
Messages on the platform give you a clear record of what was agreed and help us support you if something goes wrong.
Protect your personal information
Never share OTPs, passwords, card details or bank login information with anyone — including people claiming to be from our team.
For professionals: confirm the client’s requirements and site details before visiting, agree the scope and payment schedule in writing, and keep project conversations on Trettle so there is a clear record for both sides.
Reporting a problem
If a profile, project, review or message seems fake, abusive or unsafe — or a hire has gone wrong — email support@trettle.com. Please include:
- a link to the profile, project or review concerned;
- what happened, with dates;
- screenshots of relevant messages, quotes or payments.
We review every report and may remove content, suspend accounts or ask for more information. We may not always be able to share the outcome, to protect everyone’s privacy.
In an emergency
If you or anyone else is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first — dial 112 (India’s emergency response number). For suspected online fraud, you can also report it on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (cybercrime.gov.in) or call the cyber crime helpline 1930. Then let us know so we can act on the account involved.

Everyone on Trettle — customers and professionals — agrees to these standards.
